WFA = Wilderness First Aid 16-24 timmar. Undervisas på svenska, finska eller engelska.

WAFA = Wilderness Advanced First Aid 40-46 timmar. Undervisas på svenska eller engelska.

WFR = Wilderness First Responder 80 timmar. Undervisas bara på engelska.

WFR-R = Wilderness First Responder Refresher 24 timmar. Undervisas bara på engelska.

NOLS Wilderness Medicine kurser är intensiva med 50% praktik och realistiska scenarier. Vårt kursmaterial täcker patient-undersökning, ryggradsskador, skallskador, sårskötsel, benbrott, allergier och mycket, mycket mer. Efter en kurs med oss får deltagare certifiering i svensk hjärt- och lungräddning och NOLS Wilderness Medicine internationella certifiering.

NOLS Wilderess Medicine är en internationell organisation som undervisar vildmarks sjukvård. NOLS har utbildat nästan 200,000 personer runt om i världen. Efter kursen får man en internationell certifiering som kan betyda mycket för de som söker friluftsguidejobb. De flesta guide-företagen i USA, Kanada, Nya Zealand, Brasilien eller Chile kräver att man har en Wilderness First Responder certifiering. Crossing Latitudes arrangerar minst 2 WFR-kurser i Europa vart år.

Ingen tidigare erfarenhet krävs för att ta en NOLS Wilderness Medicine kurs. Det är våra instruktörers jobb att se till att du har kul medans du lär dig livsviktiga saker. Crossing Latitudes representerar NOLS Wilderness Medicine i Skandinavien. Vi arrangerar 20-25 NOLS Wilderness Medicine första-hjälpenkurser per år i Skandinavien, Europa och i USA. Vi har undervisat nästan 3500 personer i Skandinavien sedan vi startade år 2000. Om kursen är på svenska så är givetvis kurs-materialet också på svenska. Alla våra skandinaviska instruktörer har gått NOLS Wilderness Medicine instruktörsutbildning och vi undervisar runt om i hela världen.

Vi lovar att du kommer ha kul medans du lär dig oumbärliga kunskaper! Under kursen kommer du att vara både “patient” och “sjukvårdare”. Vi sätter upp realistiska scenarier med fejkat blod. 50% praktik och realistiska scenarier utomhus – i vilket väder vi än har under kursen. 50% är lektion, demonstration och diskussioner – oftast inomhus i ett klassrum. Under kursens gång så varvar vi lektioner och scenarier.

De flesta Wilderness First Aid (WFA) kurserna är 2,5 till 4 dagar och undervisas på svenska, finska eller engelska. Kursmatrialet är det samma vare sig kursen är 20 timmar eller 40 timmar. Skillnaden är att på de längre kurserna har vi mer tid för frågor, diskussioner om ledarskap och gruppdynamik, längre scenarier samt kanske en nattövning. Ingen tidigare erfarenhet krävs. Om du har en Wilderness First Responder certifiering från NOLS Wilderness Medicine så kan en WFA som återcertifiering.

En Wilderness Advanced First Aid (WAFA) kurs liger på 40 timmar. Denna kurstyp är lite ovanlig då de flesta NOLS Wilderness Medicine kurser i Skandinavien är antingen Wilderness First Aid kurser (WFA) på 20-30 timmar eller Wilderness First Responder kurser (WFR) på 80 timmar. Hjärt- och lungräddning är och ett nattscenarie är inkluderade i en WAFA kurs. För att få en Wilderness Advanced First Aid certifiering krävs att du klarar både ett skriftligt och ett praktiskt prov.  En deltagare som inte klarar proven får istället för en WAFA certifiering en Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certifiering. Vissa utbildningscentra i Skandinavien erbjuder sina elever en WAFA kurs.

En Wilderness First Responder (WFR) kurs är 80 timmar lång. En WFR är öppen för alla som är intresserade av en fördjupning i vildmarksmedicin. Alla NOLS Wilderness Medicine Wilderness First Responder kurser undervisas på engelska men i Europa är oftast en av instruktörerna svensk och kan hjälpa till med översättningar om så behövs. Man måste inte ha varit med på en WFA eller WAFA kurs innan man tar en WFR-kurs.  På en WFR kurs så bor och äter vi ofta tillsammans. Vi har deltagare från olika länder så förvänta dig intressanta diskussioner. På en WFR kurs har vi också större scenarier och även en natt scenarie. Ofta bjuder vi in folk utifrån som hjälper oss att vara “patienter”. Vi strävar efter att det ska bli så realistiskt som möjligt för dig som deltagare. NOLS Wilderness First Responder kursmaterial är internationellt erkänt och ofta ett krav för guider och intstruktörer i andra länder. Kursboken skickas ut när man betalar in kursavgiften.

Atercertifiering av en Wilderness First Responder (WFR-Recertification) En Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certifiering är giltlig i 2 år. Under dessa 2 år kan du kalla dig WFR. Om dina 2 år har gått ut dvs. du har passerat utgångsdatumet på ditt WFR certifierings-kort så kan du inte kalla dig WFR längre. Du har dock ytterligare ett år på dig att återcertifiera. Om du inte återcertifierar inom detta “extra” år efter utgångsdatumet så förlorar du din WFR status.

Bästa sättet att återcertifiera är att ta en WFR-Refresher kurs (24 timmar). Om du har en WFR certifiering från NOLS Wilderness Medicine så kan du även återcertifiera genom att ta en kort Wilderness First Aid kurs (2-3 dagars kurs på svenska, finska eller engelska). Vi rekommenderar dock en WFR-R eftersom alla deltagare har en WFR och kursen är scenarie baserad. Man måste alltid ta ett skriftligt och ett praktiskt prov när man återcertifierar sin WFR eller WAFA.

Om du har en WAFA eller WFR certifiering från ett annat företag än NOLS Wilderness Medicine och vill återcertifiera med oss (WMA, SOLO, Remote Medical, Aerie eller annat företag) måste du ta en WFR-R kurs. Om du klarar det skriftliga och praktiska provet får du efteråt en NOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certifiering.     SARInfo står som värd för denna 3-dagars NOLS Wilderness Medicine kurs. Kursen undervisas på svenska.

    NOLS Wilderness Medicine (https://www.nols.edu/en/courses/wilderness-medicine/) första-hjälpenkurs fokuserar på friluftsrelaterade skador och sjukdomar. Vi varvar inom- och utomhus lektioner, demonstrationer och praktik hela tiden. Kanske måste du göra en patientundersökning samt plåstra om en vän som blöder från ett sår i ansiktet. Kanske måste du hjälpa en deltagare som har en kraftig allergisk reaktion eller ta hand om en vän vars axel hoppat ur led. Vårt mål är att göra våra sjukvårdsscenarier så realistiska som möjligt. Vi är oftast ute en timme och sedan inomhus en timme eller två.

    På 3-dagars långa första-hjälpenkurser har vi lite extra tid för diskussioner, reflektion och ett nattscenario. Nattscenariet gör denna kurs unik jämte med de andra korta kurserna.

    Kursmaterialet täcker bl.a. patientundersökning, magkramper, vrickade fötter, synförändringar, urledvridningar, infektioner, brutna ben, medvetslöshet, brännskador, behandlingsmetoder, spjälning av brutna ben, allergier, nedkylning, värmerelaterade sjukdomar och evakueringsbeslut mm.

    50 % av kursen är realistiska scenarier där du får öva på vad du har lärt dig. All deltagare kommer att vara både “patienter” och “sjukvårdare”.  50 % är teori, lektion och diskussion om olyckshändelser, sjukdomar och evakuerings-beslut.

    Vårt mål är att L-ABCDE och den fokuserade patientundersökningen ska sitta i ryggmärgen efter dessa dagar och att alla deltagare ska få självförtroende att göra sitt bästa om en olycka sker.     Join us in Flåm, Norway for an international Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course. The WFR course is designed to provide you with the tools to take care of an injured person and to make critical medical and evacuation decisions in remote locations.

    The skills learned on a WFR course are needed whether you are a climber, a sea kayak instructor, a mountaineer, a backpacker or a person who live far away from clinics and hospitals. Calling 911 (US) or 112 (Europe) is not always possible.

    The WFR course type is highly recommended for members of ATTA, Svenska Fjälledare (Swedish Mountain Guides) and may other organizations.

    Classroom lectures and demonstrations are combined with realistic scenarios where mock patients will challenge you to integrate your learning.

    Half of your time will be spent completing practical skills, case studies and scenarios designed to challenge your decision making abilities. Learning takes place both in the classroom and in outdoor settings regardless of weather conditions. Come prepared for wet, muddy, cold or hot environments.

    This WFR course is held in Flåm, Norway. The small community of Flåm sits by the shore of Aurland Fjord – part of the mighty Sognefjord. Njord Kayak is our host and lodging is included in your course fee at the Flåm Camp & Hostel. The course is open to the public and we usually receive participants from all over Europe.     Participants are required to pass both written and practical examinations to obtain WFR and CPR certification.     KURSSIN KUVAUS: NOLS retkeilijän ensiapukurssi on käytännönläheinen ja nopeatempoinen kurssi paljon matkustaville ja luonnossa viihtyville. Kurssilla käsitellään monipuolisesti retkeilijän ensiapuun ja terveydenhoitoon liittyviä asioita.

    Kurssilla yhdistyvät luentomainen opetus ja käytännön harjoitukset niin sisällä kuin ulkonakin. Kolmen kurssipäivän aikana opit varautumaan odottamattomiin tilanteisiin ja saat tiedot, taidot ja osaamisen, joiden avulla pystyt tekemään järkeviä, harkittuja päätöksiä hätätilanteissa. Oli takamailla samoilu sitten intohimosi tai ammattisi, kysymyksen “mitä minun nyt pitäisi tehdä” ei pitäisi tulla hätätilanteessa mieleesi.     WHO CAN RECERTIFY?  If you hold a current Wilderness First Responder certification of at least 70 hours, you can use this WFR-Refresher in order to recertify. If you have a Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification you can also refresh on the WFR-R course.

    After the  course you will receive a NOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification upon successful completion of your WFR Recert course. There is both a written and practical test that you have to pass. If you are a WAFA you will receive a WAFA card.

    Students  holding a current WFR certification from any other organization than NOLS Wilderness Medicine are REQUIRED to submit a photocopy of their certification card on the first day of the course.

    If you hold a current WFR certification from any other wilderness medicine organization with less than a 70 hour certification, you will receive a letter of course completion in lieu of a NOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification. This letter of completion may allow you to recertify with your original certifying organization. You must contact that organization prior to your NOLS Wilderness Medicine course to ensure that our course will meet their requirements for recertification.

    It is your responsibility to make sure your certification meets this standard.     NOLS Wilderness Medicine (https://www.nols.edu/en/courses/wilderness-medicine/) första-hjälpenkurs fokuserar på friluftsrelaterade skador och sjukdomar. Vi varvar inom- och utomhus lektioner, demonstrationer och praktik hela tiden. Kanske måste du göra en patientundersökning samt plåstra om en vän som blöder från ett sår i ansiktet. Kanske måste du hjälpa en deltagare som har en kraftig allergisk reaktion eller ta hand om en vän vars axel hoppat ur led. Vårt mål är att göra våra sjukvårdsscenarier så realistiska som möjligt. Vi är oftast ute en timme och sedan inomhus en timme eller två.

    På 3-dagars långa första-hjälpenkurser har vi lite extra tid för diskussioner, reflektion och ett nattscenario. Nattscenariet gör denna kurs unik jämte med de andra korta kurserna.

    Kursmaterialet täcker bl.a. patientundersökning, magkramper, vrickade fötter, synförändringar, urledvridningar, infektioner, brutna ben, medvetslöshet, brännskador, behandlingsmetoder, spjälning av brutna ben, allergier, nedkylning, värmerelaterade sjukdomar och evakueringsbeslut mm.

    50 % av kursen är realistiska scenarier där du får öva på vad du har lärt dig. All deltagare kommer att vara både “patienter” och “sjukvårdare”.  50 % är teori, lektion och diskussion om olyckshändelser, sjukdomar och evakuerings-beslut.

    WHO CAN RECERTIFY?  If you hold a current Wilderness First Responder certification of at least 70 hours, you can use this WFR-Refresher in order to recertify. If you have a Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification you can also refresh on the WFR-R course.

    After the  course you will receive a NOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification upon successful completion of your WFR Recert course. There is both a written and practical test that you have to pass. If you are a WAFA you will receive a WAFA card.

    Students  holding a current WFR certification from any other organization than NOLS Wilderness Medicine are REQUIRED to submit a photocopy of their certification card on the first day of the course.

    If you hold a current WFR certification from any other wilderness medicine organization with less than a 70 hour certification, you will receive a letter of course completion in lieu of a NOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification. This letter of completion may allow you to recertify with your original certifying organization. You must contact that organization prior to your NOLS Wilderness Medicine course to ensure that our course will meet their requirements for recertification.

    It is your responsibility to make sure your certification meets this standard.     Are your wilderness medicine protocols on the tip of your tongue or in the bottom of your pack? Join the leader in wilderness medicine for a three-day scenario-based course to review and practice evacuation and decision making guidelines. Our dynamic, experienced instructors will refresh you on the current techniques, protocols and controversies in the wilderness medicine field.

    The 3-day WFR Recertification course includes Adult/Child CPR & AED. This course is ideal for current Wilderness First Responders and Wildereness EMTs. The WFR Recertification course is pre-approved for 18 hours of EMT CEU’s by CECBEMS.

    WHO CAN RECERTIFY?  If you hold a current Wilderness First Responder certification of at least 70 hours, you can use this WFR-Refresher in order to recertify. If you have a Wilderness Advanced First Aid certification you can also refresh on the WFR-R course.

    After the  course you will receive a NOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification upon successful completion of your WFR Recert course. There is both a written and practical test that you have to pass. If you are a WAFA you will receive a WAFA card.

    Students  holding a current WFR certification from any other organization than NOLS Wilderness Medicine are REQUIRED to submit a photocopy of their certification card on the first day of the course.

    If you hold a current WFR certification from any other wilderness medicine organization with less than a 70 hour certification, you will receive a letter of course completion in lieu of a NOLS Wilderness Medicine WFR certification. This letter of completion may allow you to recertify with your original certifying organization. You must contact that organization prior to your NOLS Wilderness Medicine course to ensure that our course will meet their requirements for recertification.
