EXPEDITION FORMAT:
This course is a self-reliant expedition that travels by double and single kayaks. At times during the course we will venture along an inhabited coastline where evacuations to modern facilities can be difficult and may take several days.
A wide variety of topics will be addressed in lecture style, discussions and practical exercises. A successful participant on this expedition is a person who wants to further develop their kayaking, outdoor living and leadership skills. Our instructors / leaders encourage each participant to take an active role in learning.
Throughout the course the participants will live outdoors, help cooking meals for the whole group and care for themselves and other expedition members. Learning to be a contributing member of an expedition can be a challenge with immense personal rewards. Leadership and teamwork are stressed throughout the course. Living together in the outdoors for an extended period of time often brings out the “true colors” in each of us.
