Where the Mountains Meet the Sea!
Crossing Latitudes would like to invite you and your friends to paddle with us in Prince William Sound, Alaska.
Prince William Sound - or PWS - is a magical place. Imagine paddling among blue tidewater glaciers, below snow covered peaks and in a region full of wildlife.
Right now we have a few Swedes and Americans looking at joining us in late July / early August. Please join us!
We'll usually see numerous seals, sealions and otters. If we are lucky we will see black bears, orcas and even humpback whales. There will be plenty of bald eagles, kittiwakes, puffins and of course lots of fish.
We plan to take you to some of our favorite stomping grounds in the Sound.
Some of the areas we hope to visit are: "Chenega Glacier", "Port Wells", "Nassau Fjord", "Dangerous Passage", "Icy Bay" and "Culross Passage".
Nassau Fjord is home to the impressive Chenga tidal glacier over two miles wide, it's a good spot to learn about the do's and don't around ice and glaciers. It can be tempting to paddle close to an ice wall or large floating icebergs but this is can be extremely dangerous.
We will enjoy the spectacular ice within a safe distance. There may be times when we have to navigate our way through smaller bits of bergs and slush. You'll also have opportunities to fish for salmon and halibut.
